The city of Ashtabula, Ohio will host a 900 kilowatt (kW) wind turbine at the city waste water treatment plant, NexGen Energy Partners, LLC announced.
The turbine will rise more than 233 feet and satisfy more that 70% of the treatment plant’s electricity demand.
NexGen Energy will develop, own and operate the turbine and sell the electricity it produces to Ashtabula at a predictable rate.
“This is a great move for Ashtabula,” says John M. Brown, President of NexGen Energy. “The energy produced by the system will go a long way towards stabilizing volatile electric utility rates and serves as a symbol of Ashtabula’s environmental commitment.”
NexGen Energy has already developed numerous renewable energy projects in Ohio and is a national leader in owning and operating distributed renewable energy systems.
