What is NexGen Energy?
NexGen Energy Partners LLC is a renewable energy services company providing commercial-sized renewable energy systems sited at our customers’ facilities. NexGen’s business model allows customers to receive the benefits of renewable energy without the technical or financial risks. This is sometimes referred to as a “third-party ownership.”
What does NexGen Energy do?
We work with utilities, municipalities, government agencies and commercial customers around the country to deliver on-site renewable solutions. We site, install and operate renewable energy systems around the country.
How do I know if NexGen Energy’s services might be right for me?
If you are a corporation with numerous locations, a utility looking to install renewables, or a government, public or educational entity located in the United States, you may be a good candidate. If you experience high or volatile energy costs, use a lot of high-peak energy, face clean energy mandates, or want to reduce your dependence on fossil fuels, you could be a good candidate for NexGen’s services.
What renewable generation technology does NexGen Energy favor?
The one that works best at our customers’ locations. NexGen Energy is “technology agnostic” but vendor biased. Because we are responsible for long term ownership and operation of all the equipment in our fleet, we work with only the most reputable suppliers in the wind and solar manufacturing sectors. If your site is located in a region with steady wind, we’ll evaluate putting one or more wind turbines there. If you have abundant sunshine, we’ll evaluate installing a solar system. We recommend systems that are right for you.
How do I know if my facilities are appropriate for an installation?
For wind installations, you need at least one quarter acre of land with a good “view” of the prevailing winds above 50 feet. For rooftop solar installations, you should have a minimum of 15,000 square feet and the roof should be less than 7 years old. For ground-mounted solar systems, the amount of land needed varies, but typically 1/2 acre -1 acre is needed for every 100 kilowatts.
Where are NexGen Energy’s services available?
NexGen Energy operates throughout the United States.
How do I know if my location receives enough wind or solar energy to make electricity?
NexGen Energy engineers and analysts conduct a complete site examination to determine whether renewable energy can provide a viable solution for you.
How are NexGen Energy’s services different from other renewable energy companies?
We offer renewable energy services; we do not sell equipment. We developed long term partnerships with our customers and make investment decisions accordingly. We finance, develop, install, own, operate and maintain renewable energy installations across the country. Our customers benefit from predictable energy prices without the initial high capital costs.
How much does it cost to get started?
Very little. NexGen Energy bears responsibility for all project costs and our customers pay only for the electricity we generate. NexGen Energy does ask customers for an up-front engineering fee to help defray the costs of evaluating projects. If we go ahead with a project, you receive the money back in the form of energy services.
What if I want just the equipment, not the services?
Our customers are not in the renewable energy business. They educate, provide public services, manufacture and sell goods. We think once you consider the advantages of having NexGen Energy manage the complex issues surrounding renewable energy systems, you’ll agree that the easiest and cheapest option is to pursue an energy service agreement with us.
How do I know what technology is best for my facility?
NexGen Energy evaluates the options of various technologies, configurations and selected sites to bring the best returns and savings to the project. We listen to your needs and concerns, and identify the best solution for your facilities.
Who does NexGen Energy partner with?
We work with a variety of partners in the financial, technology and equipment supplier communities. We have a strong preference to use partners located in the communities where our projects are based.
How long does the process take?
The timing depends largely on the scope of the project. For a single turbine, we can have it installed and operating within months of signing an agreement. For larger scale project with additional permitting requirements, it may take more time.
What support do you provide educators?
Our staff has helped many schools across the country receive the benefits of renewable energy. NexGen Energy is proud to have an on-staff curriculum specialist who can help bring your renewable energy commitment into the classroom. We’ll help design lesson plans, supply educational resources, and more. We hold regular teacher training gatherings as well.
Will NexGen Energy’s system supply all my energy?
No. NexGen Energy works exclusively on “grid-tied” projects, which means the facilities continue to receive power from the grid and their utility electric supplier, even when they employ an on-site renewable generator. This insures maximum efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
What do I need to know to maintain my renewable system?
Nothing. NexGen Energy is responsible for all maintenance and servicing of your renewable generator. Since we only receive payments when the generator is functioning effectively, we are highly incentivized to keep your renewable generator in excellent working condition.
